I had never provided wedding photography at No38 The Park before. I have always loved discovering new venues. On a cold but beautiful November day, I was travelling to Cheltenham to do just that. Nick and Sarah had commissioned me to document their day in a discreet fashion. They wanted their guests to enjoy a relaxed wedding day with them. Because of this, I instantly slipped into reportage mode!

AN INTIMATE WEDDING

I thought to myself that this is the sort of wedding I’d love to photograph on my Leica. It’s just not a practical camera for weddings. However, it would have been a perfect option in many ways for this discreet way of shooting. Instead, I stuck with my Sony A7 – the ultimate mirrorless camera for weddings!

BOUTIQUE WEDDING VENUE

No38 The Park is such a wonderful venue. I urge you if you are in Cheltenham to make the trip there for a nights stay. It is simply stunning inside. Perfect in every way for an intimate wedding day like Sarah and Nick’s. For a hotel that is not purpose-built for weddings, it flows beautifully. Transitioning from wedding ceremony to drinks reception seamlessly.

We were lucky to have some amazing colour afforded to us by the autumn season. Vivid yellows and oranges, made for vibrant backgrounds when taking the couple portraits. It was handy to have a park for us the wander through opposite the venue. We really got a chance to take full advantage to capture some colour photography!

With no first dance on this occasion, the evening was filled with socialising and toasting marshmallows! A great way to end what had been a perfect day. I felt lucky to be a part of such a special occasion.
