In a lot of ways, I should just let the wedding photography do the talking with this special day. What happens if you combine a wonderful venue in the Woburn Sculpture Gallery and a beautiful couple? You have all the ingredients for an amazing occasion! I have been to Woburn a few times before producing imagery for several lovely couples and I was excited to return!

RECOMMENDED PHOTOGRAPHER

I have been working in the industry with my camera for over ten years! In my first year of business, Luke and Katie asked me to shoot their day at Poundon House in Oxfordshire. It seems like so long ago now, but I remember the ceremony and the following drinks reception very well. As you would imagine, it was a happy occasion and I loved being a part of it. After all the years that have passed, Luke and Katie recommended me to Lewi and Gemma for this big day! I love it when I have the chance to see past couples!

We benefitted from great weather all day for this one. Lewi and Gemma were just great, happy allowing me to be creative and affording me the time needed to achieve all the shots you see below. Highlights for me at the Sculpture Gallery are always the large greenhouse, I think that’s what you would call it! I adore shooting in there with all the amazing plants!

CREATIVE IMAGES FROM WOBURN SCULPTURE GALLERY

I won’t lie, I have many highlights from this day, but I’d say the after the meal was my favourite part of the wedding. The warmth of the day was giving way to a cooler evening and the light was just beautiful. It gave us some great romantic images with cool lens flare. I can’t tell you which is my stand out photograph from the set below. I do love the one with the confetti, and also the shot with the large tree. Both Lewi and Gemma wanted to include the tree and I’m pleased that we got a lovely image that they love!

After we had had our fun playing with the light and shadows it was on to the evening party, expertly done by Matt from The Potter Group. If you’re looking for a top class DJ he’s your man for sure! You’ll see my top 10 favourite images at the beginning, and the rest of the day following. Here’s some lovely words from Lewi and Gemma…

Why did you pick Woburn Sculpture Galley as your wedding venue?

We (and our guests) fell in love with the gardens at Woburn! As soon as we walked in to view the venue, it felt special to us both and certainly had that “wow factor”. It was an honour to get married at Woburn Abbey. In addition to this, it was the perfect location for us and our visiting guests from all over the UK.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Wow! What a question! I’m sure that you hear this a lot, but the whole day was magical. We were so overwhelmed with love from our guests and it was great to celebrate with all our closest friends and family.

Do you have any advice for other brides and grooms?

Enjoy the ride! It can be stressful, but we were incredibly fortunate to have such great venue staff, wedding suppliers and friends who were all a fantastic help in organising our day. It enabled us to sit back and watch as the day came together nicely.

Lastly, lets talk photography…

It was ok…..!!!! No seriously, Elliot you made it a pleasure to have our photo taken. You had a couple who dislike having their photograph taken and you made us laugh, smile and feel completely stress free. It allowed us to enjoy the day even more than we already did. We look back on our photographs and photo album on a regular basis and it still takes our breath away to this day. I honestly do not think we could have found a better photographer to take our wedding photographs. We both can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for us.

Blimey, nearly made me cry! Thank you for those kind words Mr and Mrs Hiller and for inviting me in to be a part of such a special day. Big love!

You could be forgiven for picturing, at this stage, a small room lined with old paintings and stone busts; stuffy with stale air and draped with heavy curtains that shield the old works from art from dazzling sunlight. Forgiven, but not correct.

PERFECT FOR YOUR CELEBRATION

The sculpture gallery in Woburn Abbey is in fact a celebration of light, with large floor to ceiling windows throwing natural light upon the marble columns and ornate statues that line the walls and high ceiling doorways. It captures a magic unlike any other in the surrounding areas, fusing modern day luxury with old charm and elegance. But the gallery itself is just the start of Woburn’s magic.

Located in the rural country surrounding Milton Keynes, Woburn Abbey is a country house surrounded by its own estate; featuring a deer park, landscaped gardens and the renowned Woburn Safari Park which introduces guests to some of the world’s most famous species. Covering 360 acres of the land which is owned by the Duke of Bedford, who also owns Woburn Abbey, the Safari park is just one part of an estate which offers guests so much.

But back to the weddings, and the sculpture gallery in particular.  Entering the gallery, the first thing that springs to mind is how airy the room seems, while still maintaining a historic charm that seems not out of place in the history books; and yet entirely welcoming. With the gallery made up of two large spaces joined together by marbled archways, the hall stretches back to allow all your guests a view of your ceremony and your walk to the altar, before the doors are opened and you and your guests are ushered out to enjoy the manicured lawns and carefully sculpted gardens. Overlooking the Camelia Lake, your wedding album will ooze with rustic charm and the romance of the countryside, as you gaze over the lake and back towards the pale stone walls of Woburn Abbey.

Once photographs have been taken, allow your guests to step back inside and enjoy the gallery in all its glory, with circular tables surrounding the intricate pieces of art and statues around the room. Every newly wed couple is different, and the team at Woburn Abbey work with you to ensure your day is framed in the atmosphere you desire, offering photo shoot opportunities throughout the gallery, the halls of the abbey, and the secret paths around the gardens and the lake.

ELEGANT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

For those who choose to marry at Woburn, the sculpture gallery becomes an elegant and dramatic backdrop to enhance staged and natural photos, while the bridal room upstairs in the abbey frequently receives rave reviews due to its spectacular views, proximity to the gallery and high-end luxury amenities.

In short, there is nothing that Woburn Abbey can’t do to make your special day yours. From lining the aisle with flowers of your choice, to permitting photographs in each area of the abbey, the team at Woburn are committed to encasing your day in romantic elegance, only seeking to enhance the existing charm captured within the gallery.
