I’ve seen many weddings photographed at West Mill Wedding Venue but I had never photographed there. Kayleigh and Ben’s wedding gave my the chance to see what all the fuss was about. It’s justified! What a venue!
Remember that joy I spoke of in my 2021 review blog post, this wedding is a perfect example of what I was referring to. The thing you miss about being a wedding photographer when you have an enforced break is actually the joy. I’m a professional photographer but it’s hard not to see what I do as a hobby. When it comes to weddings though, it isn’t taking the photographs, the editing or any of the other things that may come to mind first. It’s the joy I missed most. During my working day (if you want to call it work!) I’m surrounded by it!
A Wedding Celebration
When discussing the day with Kayleigh and Ben, the most important thing to them was to have an amazing celebration. Not just for themselves, but their friends and family too. So I was booked for a full days coverage to ensure that I captured all the fun and festivities. It can be easy to get bogged down in the material things at a wedding. Don’t get me wrong, we all value different things, and that’s ok naturally. But it is a celebration and it can be easy to forget that in the organisation of a big day.
A full days wedding photography coverage is for couples that share a similar feeling to Kayleigh and Ben. It gives me the privilege to capture all the silliness, the laughter and crazy moments that happen in the midnight hour. With Dwaine and the crew from the Distractions Band lighting up the stage, how could there be anything less than a party. The Distractions are great. But a special mention has to go to Dwaine. I’ve worked with him many times and he is a special talent. Wonderful vocally, and gives his absolute all to every performance. It was a truly phenomenal effort by the Distractions crew, helped by the willingness of the bride and groom and their family and friends. It was a truly wonderful party.
Now, normally, I do a write up of the full wedding, but I’m going to divert away from that from now on. I’m not much of a writer! So in future I think I’ll pick out key elements to the weddings I describe and try and make it informative for you. Perhaps give some advice etc. So if this is a little different to my usual posts then that’s why!
So, if you’re in the thick of the organisation and you’re finding it tough, just remember it’s a wedding celebration. Take a step back. Remember it’s a day to enjoy and a day to celebrate your relationship moving to boss level. Don’t forget when all is said and done it’s about the love and the joy. Everything else is secondary!
To the Kayleigh and Ben, thank you so much for letting me be a part of such an amazing party. You said it would be and you were not wrong! What a day. I know you’ll have a wonderful life together.
“There will never, ever be enough words to express how much these photos capture our day so perfectly. From hearts very full, thank you so very much. To both you and Richard – you absolutely smashed it!” Kayleigh and Ben
Peace out, Patch.
